City Models launch Fabulous over 40 beauty project - just in time for the holidays
Halifax, Nov. 23, 2021 - City Models, the Halifax-based talent agency representing models, actors and influencers in Atlantic Canada for more than 40 years, is rolling out a new project that celebrates female beauty in all shapes, sizes and skin colours.
The agency has curated a group of women who are featured in a video that shows that beauty does not come in one shape, one culture, size or age group.
“Women over 40 deserve to be celebrated,” said Cheryl Chafe, Director of City Models and head of talent management. “In the age of Instagram, beauty is often defined narrowly in terms of size, age and other factors. We want to show that beauty does not end at 40. In fact, beauty is enhanced by age, skin colour, size and diversity. There are so many beautiful women out there. They deserve to be heard, seen and celebrated.”
City Models produced the video to feature women over the age of 40 who are working on the fashion runway, in commercials and in film and social media influencing.
The message is that beauty and talent comes from all cultures, backgrounds and ages.
Chafe said the timing is good as women will be getting dressed up and going out for holiday and events for the first time in a long time.
She says the commercial market is looking for women models, actors and influencers from diverse backgrounds and different age groups.
“Together we can change the way the world defines aging,” Chafe said. “If you are a woman over 40, 50, 60, 70, 80+ I want to help you celebrate and appreciate every scar, every line, and every grey hair. Whether you feel invisible, empowered or somewhere in between, I want you to know that you are amazing and that your story is important.”
Chafe and her models and actors also want to inspire and empower younger women from different backgrounds.
“I’ve had people come up to me and tell me they are no longer afraid or have fear of aging and getting older,” said Kim Coleman, 61, who is represented by City Models. “To me being that for other people and letting them know what else is possible, that really gets my jam.”
