MODELING SCAM TARGETING UNDERAGE GIRLS ON FACEBOOK
HALIFAX, NS– Atlantic Canadian families are being warned today of an Internet scam that claims to be scouting young females for well-respected agency, City Models Talent Agency, and requests illicit photographs.
The warning comes after an underage girl in Prince Edward Island was contacted by a ‘Laura McDonald’ who alleges she represents City Models Talent Agency in Halifax. The message requests a list of her friends and photos of the girl in her undergarments to ensure a spot in the competitive modeling industry.
“A reputable talent agency would never approach prospective talent using Facebook nor would ask for a list of friends or illicit photographs,” says City Models director Angela Campagnoni. “I hope this type of request will raise a red flag for any others who may have been contacted.”
Campagnoni stresses it is important that prospective talent ensure they are being contacted by a legitimate agency and become suspicious when strange requests are made. She also encourages those who suspect they have been fraudulently contacted to email screenshots of the conversations to your local police station.
City Models has been at the forefront of the Atlantic Canadian modeling industry since the mid-1980s and currently has talent in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Italy, Spain and Germany. The agency has earned the reputation of an organization built on a history, professionalism and experience. For more information, visit www.citymodels.ca.

Haligonia: Solstice
Wikipedia defines it as “an astronomical event that happens twice each year.” Ladies and gentleman…what you are about to read is an astronomical event that only happened once. This event occurred when the stars finally aligned (along with our crazy work schedules) and I had the opportunity to meet with three of Atlantic Canada’s Top Models Stephanie Christian, Kristina Comuzzi, and Matthew Terrauds at Starbucks at Spring Garden & Queen. The last time I saw these three was at Atlantic Fashion Week where they sasheyed down several runways selling the latest. Let’s just say we had a lot to talk about… the fashion, the designers, the agencies etc. They are the new breed of model: educated and they’ve got it together. What I love most about these three players (whom photographer Cyndi Gordon has labelled ‘The MOD Squad”) is that they are really interesting, dynamic and funny people. So we had a few laughs, a few caffeinated beverages and I asked a few questions. (…and a few personal ones too!) Here goes the interview: –>Read the Full Interview

Paris A La Mode: AFW Journal Entry 2: The Designer Showcase: World Trade & Orphans
I know that this was supposed to be called the designer showcase, but for anyone who was on the 8th Floor of the World Trade & Convention Centre last evening, you would have SWORN TO GOD you were at the Carnival of Beauty which presents tomorrow. Two words: beautiful people. Everyone who was anyone in the Atlantic Canadian Fashion and design scene was here, and dressed to kill. I am a bit in my comfort zone now with the designers and local paparrazi and have become accustomed to candid interviews and introducing myself on a whim. (P.S. – I am shocked that they even know my name, I am sure two little birds by the names of LISA DRADER-MURPHY and JOANNE DAVID had something to do with it!) I attended the evening with my lovely partner Jonathan Brake (who has been my proverbial crutch, abulating me through the week) and bestie Michael Driscoll, up and coming hair stylist at Thumper’s Hair Salon Halifax on Granville Street. Because they are all the rage at the moment (and there are only 10 in circulation) the blogging Republic of Paris à la mode dawned the shirts in full force. I briefly chatted with City Models owner Angela Campagnoni, who appeared very composed, dawned in the most gorgeous garments, voguing in her headset in command of the show and backstage. Lisa and Joanne looked absolutely stunning, I must admit I felt a bit under dressed, but I am a starving writer, so I totally worked it. –>Read the Full Article

Paris A La Mode: Rush
…
Thirdly, City Models presents Atlantic Fashion Week ONE week from today’s date! I recently met with Angela Campagnoni, owner of City Models who recently made it back from LG Toronto Fashion week with her entourage. How she is remaining so calm and composed is beyond me, but she has a lot of tricks up her designer sleeve. I am just stressing about what to wear for those four days. This evening after a very long nap, I ventured into my closet. Any given Friday or Saturday night I could find a half dozen combination’s. Today my friends…I’ve got nothing. FASHION BLOCK. There, I’ve said it…and for the next seven days, Spring Garden Road had better be my muse because I need to get back on the proverbial wagon. –>Read the Full Article
Fashion Roadkill: Atlantic Fashion Week S/S ’10
Last Thursday I attended the AFW s/s ’10 shows at the Olympic Centre in Halifax, once again organized by City Models‘ Angela Campagnoni. I’m not gonna lie I was pretty excited about it because I was “press” this time around and not merely a spectator. However, I was a bit disappointed upon discovering that there were a few designers missing from this season’s designer showcase that I would have liked to see, notably Katrina Tuttle who, only a week before showcased her wares at Toronto Fashion Week. A fresh addition to the AFW roster was accessories designer Megan Allison. Her pieces were fashioned with brass, bronze and copper and attached with strands of leather. Megan’s Jamaican background shined through in her jewelry which were beautifully adorned with small turquoise and coral stones. –>Read the Full Article
